Resilience

When the real estate agent initially showed us our farm, we heard gunshots in the background. “Yes, there is hunting nearby,” she told us. “I don't like to hear it. But it's the only drawback.” Indeed, the farm has beautiful scenery, including woods and a large pond.

The gunfire turned out to be quite frequent. It comes from a hunting club over the hill, about a mile away. I mentioned the club in Chapter 4. Here I will describe it in a bit more detail. I will also describe how we have tried to help the ducks who have escaped from it. During our efforts, we have learned about their modes of resilience, their ways of coping with adversity.
